Drawing interval review
Drawing Tolerance Range Checker
Enter the limits from the approved drawing, not an assumed industry tolerance, and use one unit per feature for all three values. The worksheet reports whether each measurement is below, within or above its limits, and how far it is from the nearer one.
Enter each feature and its drawing limits → compare the measured value → review the record. No inspection approval is generated.
Enter your records
Required inputs must be complete. Enter 0 only when zero is deliberate; missing values remain unresolved. Use non-confidential references only.
Record fields
- Feature reference
- Drawing revision
- Unit (same for all three values)
- Lower limit
- Upper limit
- Measured value

Worked example
A buyer compares sample measurements against limits taken from drawing rev B for a shower enclosure frame.
Example figures are invented for illustration. They are not product data, prices or a quotation.
Example inputs
| Feature reference | Drawing revision | Unit (same for all three values) | Lower limit | Upper limit | Measured value | Measurement record reference |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frame opening width | Drawing rev B | mm | 898 | 902 | 900.5 | Sample check 1 |
| Door panel height | Drawing rev B | mm | 1948 | 1952 | 1953.2 | Sample check 2 |
| Hinge hole offset | Drawing rev B | mm | 148 | 152 | 152 | Sample check 3 |
Result from the worksheet
Drawing Tolerance Range Checker LOCAL WORKSHEET — entered data only Frame opening width | Drawing rev B | Sample check 1: 900.5 mm is within entered [898, 902]; nearest boundary distance 1.5 mm. Not an inspection approval. Door panel height | Drawing rev B | Sample check 2: 1953.2 mm is above entered [1948, 1952]; nearest boundary distance 1.2 mm. Not an inspection approval. Hinge hole offset | Drawing rev B | Sample check 3: 152 mm is within entered [148, 152]; nearest boundary distance 0 mm. Not an inspection approval. No product, inspection, installation, stock or delivery approval is generated.
How to read it
Check 1 measures 900.5 mm against limits of 898 and 902, so it is within, 1.5 mm from the nearer limit. Check 2 at 1953.2 mm is above the 1952 upper limit by 1.2 mm and is the item to raise. Check 3 sits exactly on the 152 limit, which counts as within with a distance of 0 mm. The tool only compares numbers and gives no inspection decision.
How the check works
A measurement is within the interval when lower ≤ measured ≤ upper, so a value exactly on a limit counts as within. The result also gives the distance to the nearer limit, in your unit. Instrument uncertainty and the suitability of the measuring method are not included.
Enter both limits explicitly
Take both limits from the approved requirement; don’t derive them from a nominal size. Negative values are allowed for coordinates, and an empty field is never treated as zero. Values may have up to 12 decimal places and a magnitude of up to 1,000,000,000, and are compared exactly within that range. A lower limit above the upper limit is rejected. The tool doesn’t convert units, read plus/minus notation or assess geometric tolerances.
Keep the evidence with the number
Copy the feature, drawing revision and measurement reference together with the result. Resolve an outdated drawing or a doubtful measurement first. A value within the limits is not a decision that the part, the drawing or the shipment has passed inspection.
Drawing interval review questions
Does a value exactly on a limit count as within?
Yes. Both limits you enter are inclusive.
Can I enter a negative coordinate?
Yes. Negative limits and measurements are accepted.
Does the checker supply a standard tolerance?
No. Enter the limits from your approved requirement.
Is measurement uncertainty taken into account?
No. Uncertainty and gauge suitability need separate inspection judgment.
Can I mix millimeters and inches for one feature?
No. Use one unit for all three values; nothing is converted.
Discuss the reviewed requirement
Use the result to identify questions for WNS Global. Offered products, specifications and commercial conditions still require separate confirmation.
