Measured outlet flow

Timed Water Collection Flow Calculator

Record the volume actually collected and its elapsed time. Use a distinct condition reference for each outlet, setting and operating situation; only identical references are combined.

Enter measurements → review geometry or arithmetic → confirm the real application. No order or approval is generated.

Enter your records

Required inputs must be complete. Only fields marked optional may be left blank. Enter 0 only when zero is deliberate; missing values remain unresolved. Use non-confidential references only.

Worked example

A buyer timing the basin faucets in a sample hotel guest room, collecting water in a marked container with the handle fully open.

Example figures are invented for illustration. They are not product data, prices or a quotation.

LOCAL WORKSHEET — entered data only

Record 1 · Basin faucet K1, cold, fully open: 9 L/min

Record 2 · Basin faucet K1, cold, fully open: 9.6 L/min

Record 3 · Basin faucet K1, hot, fully open: 7.8 L/min

Basin faucet K1, cold, fully open: combined 9.3 L/min; individual range 9–9.6 L/min; 2 reading(s).

Basin faucet K1, hot, fully open: combined 7.8 L/min; individual range 7.8–7.8 L/min; 1 reading(s).

No product, inspection, installation, stock or delivery approval is generated.

How to read it

The two cold readings share one reference, so they are combined by total volume over total time: 4.5 L plus 4.8 L over 30 s plus 30 s gives 9.3 L/min, inside the individual range of 9 to 9.6 L/min. The hot reading of 3900 mL in 30 s is a separate condition at 7.8 L/min. This is a flow figure only, with no pressure or rated-flow check.

Flow from a timed collection

Liters per minute = collected liters × 60 ÷ elapsed seconds. Sydney Water describes the same timed-container method for measuring outlet flow. This worksheet uses that arithmetic only, not its garden-watering advice. Use a safe measurement arrangement; do not collect dangerously hot water or improvise around energized equipment.

Combine matching conditions, not unrelated outlets

Repeated readings with the exact same reference use 60 × total liters ÷ total seconds, not the unweighted average of the individual rates. Minimum and maximum individual rates are shown as a range. Change the reference when the outlet or operating condition changes.

A flow result is not a pressure or compliance measurement

Enter zero volume only if deliberately observed; it produces zero flow with a review warning, not proof of normal operation. Time must be greater than zero. Measurement uncertainty, pressure, temperature, device calibration and rated-flow acceptance are not evaluated. Inputs and arithmetic use finite decimal values; display rounding is not an instrument specification.

Numerical scope

Numeric inputs accept at most six decimal places and magnitude 1,000,000. Geometry contact and grid counts use exact scaled-integer comparisons within that input scope, not an added physical clearance. Displayed decimal results are rounded to six places and do not establish measurement accuracy.

Measured outlet flow questions

How are repeated timed collections combined?

The tool divides their total volume by their total time within an identical condition reference.

Can readings from different outlets be combined automatically?

No. Use separate references for different outlets and operating conditions.

Does zero collected volume prove the outlet is operating normally?

No. It returns zero flow and a review warning.

Can flow determine the water pressure?

No. This calculation does not measure or infer pressure.

Can elapsed time be zero?

No. A positive elapsed time is required.

Discuss the reviewed requirement

Use the result to identify questions for WNS Global. Offered products, specifications and commercial conditions still require separate confirmation.
