Hole center correspondence
Two-Dimensional Hole Center Pattern Matcher
Check whether every center on one drawing can be assigned to a different center on another drawing under a transformation you specify. This is a coordinate comparison, not automatic alignment or proof that the hardware fits.
Enter measurements → review geometry or arithmetic → confirm the real application. No order or approval is generated.
Enter your records
Required inputs must be complete. Only fields marked optional may be left blank. Enter 0 only when zero is deliberate; missing values remain unresolved. Use non-confidential references only.

Worked example
A buyer checking whether a three-hole widespread faucet drawing lines up with the deck holes on a basin drawing, with the faucet drawing viewed rotated 180 degrees.
Example figures are invented for illustration. They are not product data, prices or a quotation.

Result from the worksheet
Two-Dimensional Hole Center Pattern Matcher LOCAL WORKSHEET — entered data only Reference drawing: Basin deck drawing rev B Candidate drawing: Widespread faucet drawing rev A Candidate transform: rotate 180° counterclockwise about (0, 0), then translate X 0 mm, Y 20 mm. Radial center tolerance: 1.5 mm; boundary included. Matched 2 of 3 centers. No complete one-to-one correspondence exists under this transform and tolerance. Reference Spout hole (0, 0) ↔ Candidate Spout tail original (0, 20), transformed (0, 0); delta X 0 mm, Y 0 mm. Reference Left handle hole (-102, -12) ↔ Candidate Handle 1 original (102, 32), transformed (-102, -12); delta X 0 mm, Y 0 mm. Unmatched reference: Right handle hole Unmatched candidate: Handle 2 One possible maximum matching is shown; uniqueness is not asserted. No automatic best fit, mirroring, hole-diameter, thread, slot, material or load review. Not a mechanical-fit approval. REVIEW ITEMS Incomplete center correspondence: review unmatched records and the chosen transform. No product, inspection, installation, stock or delivery approval is generated.
How to read it
Rotating Handle 1 at (102, 32) by 180 degrees gives (-102, -32), and the Y offset of 20 moves it to (-102, -12), exactly the left handle hole. Handle 2 at (-100, 32) lands at (100, -12), which is 2 mm from the right handle hole at 102, outside the 1.5 mm tolerance. The tool therefore reports 2 of 3 matched with one review item: check the drawing values before relying on this pattern.
Establish the coordinate convention first
Enter both drawings in millimeters with X increasing right and Y increasing up. Identify their origins and viewing directions yourself. The candidate is rotated counterclockwise about its own origin by 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees and then translated by the entered X and Y offsets into the reference coordinate system. The worksheet does not estimate these values or reflect a rear view.
Match centers without reusing a hole
A candidate-reference pair is eligible when squared X difference plus squared Y difference does not exceed the squared radial tolerance. This is a circular distance test, not independent limits on each coordinate. An augmenting-path matching algorithm finds a maximum one-to-one assignment across all eligible pairs; a nearest-point greedy choice could miss a valid complete assignment. The displayed correspondence is one possible maximum, not necessarily unique.
Keep mismatches visible
The two patterns must contain equal counts, with two to thirty centers in each. Hole references and coordinates must be distinct within each set. An incomplete assignment lists unmatched centers; changing any input clears the old result and chart. A complete correspondence only concerns the entered centers and tolerance.
Understand what the plot can and cannot show
Reference centers are circles and transformed candidate centers are crosses. Lines show the selected pairings, using one common drawing scale. The plot is a schematic based on entered data; very close points may overlap at screen resolution. Exact coordinate differences are retained in the text. The tolerance is not enlarged or inferred from apparent visual overlap.
Input limits and release boundary
Coordinates, offsets and tolerance accept at most six decimal places and magnitude 1,000,000 mm; coordinates and offsets may be negative, tolerance may not. Fit decisions use scaled integers and squared distances, not rounded display pixels. Input resolution does not establish measurement accuracy. Hole diameter, thread, slot travel, material, fastener clearance, strength and installation compliance are outside this check.
Hole center correspondence questions
Does this tool find the best rotation and translation automatically?
No. You enter the coordinate transform; only that transform is evaluated.
Is the tolerance applied separately to X and Y?
No. It is the maximum radial center distance, with the boundary included.
Can one candidate hole satisfy two reference holes?
No. Each center can appear in at most one selected pair.
Is the displayed complete correspondence necessarily unique?
No. One possible maximum matching is shown.
Does a complete center match approve the hardware connection?
No. Diameters, threads, materials and other mechanical requirements need separate review.
Discuss the reviewed requirement
Use the result to identify questions for WNS Global. Offered products, specifications and commercial conditions still require separate confirmation.
