From door model to seal order
What identifies a replacement shower door seal?
In the sources used here, a replacement seal is described by its door, its position, the glass thickness, its length and its part number. DreamLine’s H009A1-10 page states all of these for one clear, pre-cut bottom sweep.
DreamLine’s Unidoor single-door manual lists three seals on one door under separate part codes; the bottom sweep code also changes with the door-glass width. Prime-Line states the fit of its M 6268 bottom seal by length and glass thickness.
| Field | Where it appears in the sources |
|---|---|
| Door family or model | DreamLine: made to fit all Allure doors. |
| Position on the door | DreamLine manual: hinge side, bottom sweep, L-strike. |
| Glass thickness | DreamLine: 3/8 in (10 mm). Prime-Line M 6268: 1/2 in only. |
| Length | DreamLine: pre-cut, 23 1/8 in. Prime-Line M 6268: 36 in. |
| Part number | H009A1-10; M 6268; the Unidoor parts-list codes. |
How do you recover a lost shower door model?
Steps 1 to 5 are published by Kohler and Delta Shower Doors for their own products.
- Look for a label on the door. Kohler prints model and serial numbers on a white or clear label.
- Check the box. Delta Shower Doors prints the model number above the UPC code.
- Check the installation guide. Kohler’s sliding door instructions have a line for recording the model number.
- Check the purchase receipt, which Kohler lists as a place for a model number.
- With only a serial label, contact the maker. Kohler says its Customer Care Center can determine the model.
- Failing that, trace the installer, invoice or project schedule and take marked photos.
Sources: Kohler’s label article, sliding door instructions and model number article, and the Delta Shower Doors model number answer. Kohler’s service parts page also points to its Scout app, in beta, which helps find a Kohler model number from an uploaded photo. Step 6 is this guide’s suggestion.
Where is the model label on a shower door?

It depends on the maker and the door type. Kohler’s label article gives a place for each of its door types.
| Product | Where the maker says to look |
|---|---|
| Kohler sliding door | Inside or on the underside of the top track (header). |
| Kohler pivot door | On a metal part: inside the top track on doors with a header; behind the wall jamb or door hinge on frameless pivot doors. |
| Kohler minimalist frameless door | No label on the product; on a white or bright orange pamphlet packed with it. |
| Delta Shower Doors box | Model number above the UPC code. |
| Delta Shower Doors guide | System name on the front of most installation guides. |
Kohler says shower doors with few metal parts will not include a label on the product.
Is glass thickness enough to choose a seal?

Not in the sources used here. Prime-Line tells buyers of its M 6268 to measure the door thickness before ordering. DreamLine adds a door family and a pre-cut length.
| Named part | Thickness | What else the maker states |
|---|---|---|
| DreamLine H009A1-10 | 3/8 in (10 mm) | Bottom sweep; pre-cut 23 1/8 in; fits all Allure doors. |
| DreamLine Unidoor bottom sweep | 10 mm (3/8 in) | A range of part codes, one per door-glass width (23 in to 30 in). |
| DreamLine Unidoor hinge side seal | 10 mm (3/8 in) | A different code from the bottom sweep. |
| Prime-Line M 6268 | 1/2 in only | Bottom seal; 36 in; frameless doors; slip-on. |
The Unidoor hinge side seal and bottom sweep are both for 10 mm glass, under different codes.
Which seal positions need separate identification?

Each position can have its own seal. The names below are the makers’ own, from two documents:
Door bottom
DreamLine’s Unidoor manual presses a bottom sweep vinyl seal onto the bottom edge of the door glass.
Hinge side
Its hinge side vinyl seal is cut into sections to fit around the hinges and the sweep.
Strike side
Its L-strike vinyl comes with adhesive (VHB) tape. Its place is marked with the door held closed, and the manual allows 24 hours for the adhesive to set.
Sliding door
Kohler’s instructions 1501273-2-B name, among others, a wedge seal between wall jamb and fixed panel, a bulb seal, two wipe seals and a threshold seal.
- Take an overall photo of the enclosure
- Mark the worn seal position on it
- Mark the moving panel and the shower side
- Keep readable labels apart from guesses
Does the fitting direction of a seal matter?

Yes, on the Kohler doors cited here. Kohler states which way these seals face and how one is trimmed; DreamLine fixes which face of the glass is inside:
Kohler Prevail threshold seal
Kohler’s orientation article says the soft seal can be installed incorrectly. Its front lip sits to the front of the bath or shower, over the front of the bottom track.
Kohler wall jamb seals
Kohler’s instructions 1582332-2-A have a seal pressed onto each wall jamb with the flexible fin on the inside of the shower.
Trimming to the door
The same instructions leave about 1/2 in (13 mm) of threshold seal beyond the end of the threshold, then trim it at each end to mate with the notch in the bumper.
Glass side
DreamLine says the Unidoor door glass can be flipped for left or right swing, but its ClearMax label must be on the inside.
These instructions belong to the named doors. DreamLine’s manual also warns that tempered glass cannot be cut, so never alter the door to suit an uncertain part.
What do makers ask for before supplying a part?

Each row is what a named maker publishes for its own products: what it asks for, or how it routes a parts request.
| Source | What it asks for or offers |
|---|---|
| DreamLine Unidoor manual | Purchase order information, SKU or model number and factory part information. |
| DreamLine warranty page | Proof of purchase with every warranty claim; replacement is the same part or, if not available, a comparable one. |
| Kohler service parts page | Identify the product, view its parts diagram, select the part. |
| Basco Roda parts page | Find the part on a graphic, note its letter, then buy from the table. |
How should a buyer order a replacement seal?

These steps are guidance, not a maker’s procedure.
- Recover the door model. Use the label, box, guide, receipt or the maker’s service team.
- Mark the position. Bottom, hinge side or strike side, on an overall photo.
- Find the part. Use the model’s parts list or diagram; do not match by a similar profile.
- Record every field. Part number, glass thickness, length and fixing method.
- Get a written match. Ask the supplier to confirm the part against the door and the position.
- Ask for instructions. Fitting direction and trimming, for that door.
- Keep a dated service note. Model, position, part code, evidence of the match and instructions.
When the identity cannot be recovered
A broad listing is not a documented match. Ask the door supplier or a service professional for a written assessment and leave the selection open until one exists. If records conflict with the door on site, resolve the conflict first. Do not reshape a seal or dismantle hardware to get a sample. After fitting, run the operation and water checks for that door.
What should you send and ask before a quotation?

A complete request lets the supplier answer for one door and one position.
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Which door model is this part made for? | Named makers tie parts to a door family. |
| Which position does it serve? | One door can carry several seals with different codes. |
| Which glass thickness and length? | Both are stated on the named part pages. |
| Is it pre-cut or trimmed on site? | Some named instructions trim seals. |
| Which way does it face? | Kohler says one seal can be installed incorrectly. |
| Is it the original part or a comparable one? | DreamLine’s warranty allows a comparable part if the same is unavailable. |
Include with your request
- Door model, or how far it was traced
- Invoice, installer or project reference
- Overall photo with the worn seal marked
- Glass thickness and seal length
- Original seal code, if known
